

Two statues, one of the Portuguese scholar, poet and magistrate Camilo Pessanha, and one of an unknown Chinese dignitary, lie disgarded on a construction site outside the Casino Lisboa which used to be a park and home to the two statues, Macau, 09 April 2006. Pessanha immersed himself in the Macau culture, collected Chinese art and became a respected China authority in the ex-Portuguese colony. He died on 01 March 1926 due to complications aggravated by his chronic opium use.
